Matt + Jenna = Love
Little known fact to our family and friends: We met in high school and actually went to prom together! Neither of us knew at the time how blessed we were to have somehow stumbled onto our other half. That was back in 2001 and we've been together ever since (11 years)! From our freshman year at CSULB (Matt - Psychology) and Cal Lu (Jenna - Art History), to both changing majors (Accounting and Communicative Disorders) and transferring to the U of R, we somehow found a way to grow and change together. Matt says he knew we were going to get married after our third date :) I'd say that I was a little more skeptical of him and his ambitious career goals and how that might impact our future... But he ALWAYS has a plan... And he surprised me :)
During our last year of undergrad, I spent 6 months studying abroad in New Zealand. Matt flew out to visit me during my mid semester break and surprised me by bringing an engagement ring! We had such an amazing time in New Zealand and still consider it one of our favorite and most beautiful places we've visited on this earth.
We spent nearly 2 years in engagement bliss before getting married on May 13, 2006. We often like to say that we "got married when we were 12" since most of our friends weren't in long term relationships or dating at the time... It was such a foreign, but perfect moment and SOMEHOW each moment, day, week, year, gets better and better. Don't get me wrong, there are definitely hard times, but we have learned soooo much from them and each other.
During our 6 years together (11 really) we've taken numerous camping trips up the California coast, traveled overseas (Thailand, Jamaica, China, Hong Kong, Vietnam, Malaysia, Singapore, & Italy), received 2 masters degrees, purchased a home, added our first baby in 2010 (Odie our amazing dog), and most recently added our little Violet on St. Patricks Day 2012.
... We're a family :) A blooming family!
