I've been having some trouble with my Blogger app on my phone and have spent some time typing up posts which kept getting deleted since I couldn't save them! Well... User error because I hadn't updated the app! I finally did yesterday and there's a 'save' feature :) So back to blogging I go!
Christmas:
We had a Lovely time in Kent, WA (outside of Seattle) visiting my parents for Christmas. We left early Friday morning the 21st and just so happened to be on the same flight as Mel and Nic! We were so sad to leave our Odie, but he stayed with Matt's parents and is always so well taken care of and LOVED by them ❤ Not only did Mel and Nic fly up to Seattle, but so did Jacob, my grandma (mom's mom, from Hawaii), and grandpa (dad's dad, from Hawaii as well, but has been staying with my parents). It was a full house and SO much fun! It took Violet 2 days to warm up to her surroundings, but once she did she was good to go! My parents do a really nice job of hosting! From a great sleeping set up for everyone including Violet, to lots of toys and everyday needs (for V), to planning meals and adventures! My favorite meals (if you know me well, you'll know why I'm starting with FOOD!): Christmas rib roast, dim sum (Violet loved it, too!), Ham, tamales, salmon (my FAVORITE!), Norwegian pancakes, COOKIES, and delicious breakfast egg concoctions! The cookies themselves were a meal! Mel made Russian snowballs, the BEST chocolate chip cookies you'll EVER have, and rum balls... I helped make some pecan tassies, too ❤ Cookies galore! Activities we loved: Theo chocolate factory tour, snow day sledding!, walks with the family even in the rain, big grandma singing Japanese songs to Violet (and getting her to nap!), V playing with great grandpa's beard while he barks like Odie, grandma giving V baths, and our favorite moment... Grandpa baptizing Violet ❤ It was a wonderful trip and a fantastic Christmas with family!
We flew home Wednesday night the 26th and the rest of our vacation was a whirlwind!
27th: we spent the day in Redlands with family, celebrating Christmas with our nieces and nephew ❤ SO MUCH FUN!!! Odie was definitely a little confused when we pulled up to papa and grandmas house since he had JUST left the night before (yes, my amazing father-in-law brought Odie home Wednesday night from Redlands to Long beach and picked all 5 of us up from the airport... Only to have us drive out to Redlands the next morning... He apparently knows our love for Odie and inability to be home without him).
28th: we took Odie to the dog beach to have some fun in the morning! Then we headed out to Temecula (a 2 hr drive!) for a friends birthday party/holiday get together. That was a fun night and so many kids and babies for us to watch and violet to play with :) Our friends Kevin and Lisa will be moving back to CA and bought a beautiful home in Temecula! Matt and I were oogling the details this home had! We can't wait till we see more of the Locklin family again ❤ On this night, Violet got a really special bunny beanie hat from her baby friend Evan... It's adorable!
29th: We relaxed a little in the morning and took down our super CRISPY Christmas tree! We were so busy doing that we forgot what time it was and ate lunch at 2:00! After lunch we headed out to Moreno Valley (a 1.5 hr drive) for diner with friends :) ANOTHER fun night which ended at 11:15 when we got home! Violet has been a trooper through it all and is such a happy and good baby :)
30th (Sunday): Yup! We headed BACK out to Redlands for the day to celebrate Christmas with Matt's family including the Dutton's :) Another fun filled day with LOTS of food!
31st and 1st: Needless to say, after all our travels, Matt and I realized we hadn't spent ANY days of our vacation at home! So we planned a quiet last 2 days doing JUST THAT: relaxing at home :)
