After my last post last week, Violets rash got much worse. She also vomited a bunch of yellow gross stuff Monday night which we didn't find out till I went in to get her ready for daycare on Tuesday. Poor thing laid in vomit all night till it was crusty in her hair! Tuesday morning I was really worried that she may have a stomach bug so Matt came home from work, I left for work, and we moved up her doctors appointment from Thursday to Tuesday. While I was at work, violet refused to eat, so Matt called me to come home (then he went BACK to work). I took her to the doctor who said her rash was definitely a contact allergy, but that it's hard to know what from. He also said that she may have a small tummy bug unless its also from what she ate. She ended up only vomiting that 1x though so after a couple days, Matt and I thought that maybe she just had a giant allergy to something she ate and vomited to get it out. But who knows :)
So this rash of hers... Despite mid day tubs at daycare, keeping the areas dry and aquaphored, and dressing her loosely, her rash would NOT leave after 4 days! It started to get slightly better, and her face rash kind of went away, but her neck rash wouldn't leave. On Sunday we gave her some rice cereal again and then she broke out in a huge neck rash AGAIN! And she was chewing on some wooden blocks during a play date which turned her face red, too. This time I made an ointment concoction our pediatrician told us to use if it did't go away (lotrimin & hydrocortisone). Worked like a charm! Within 24 hrs it's almost completely gone!
The Verdict = Violet had contact dermatitis which then turned into a yeast infection under her chin and neck. Fix? Magic ointment :)
